SUMMARY:June 28th Franciacorta "Italian Champagne" Versus French Champagne Battle with Paired Foods 3:30 - 5:00 PM
DESCRIPTION:Love Champagne? Join us for a special Champagne/Franciacorta DOUBLE BLIND tasting with Russ Lorber\, Wide Roots Owner and Importer of the Franciacorta wines and Owner Bobbi Parlett\, and with food pairings prepared by Chef Dawn.\n\nIn the early 1960s\, young oenologist Franco Ziliani made the first Pinot di Franciacorta vintage\, thus triggering the production of the first ante litteram amateur sparkling wines\, the predecessors to Franciacorta's modern\, codified winemaking. \n\nIn the wake of the first Protected Designation of Origin appellation in 1967\, in 1995 Franciacorta became the first Italian wine made with a second fermentation in the bottle to achieve Protected and Guaranteed Designation of Origin (DOCG) status. The name on today's labels is Franciacorta\, a single word which conjures up geography\, production method and wine. 97% of Berlucchi's production is sold in Italy. Any major celebration in Italy has a bottle of Berlucchi's Franciacorta at the table. To read more about the history of the Franciacorta name and wine\, click here:\n\nhttps://franciacorta.wine/en/region/origins-history/\n\nHope to see you for this event in our Trattoria Simpatico at 104 Railroad Ave. Salute! \n\nThe menu for our 4 courses and 4 Champagne/Franciacorta pairing offering:\n\nFirst Tasting*\n\nFried Squash Blossoms with Anchovy Sauce\n\nCrushed Caper Tapenade\, Petite Burrata\n\nDouble Blind Tasting of a "Champagne/Franciacorta"\n\nSecond Tasting*\n\nPolenta Crisp\, SunChoke Puree\, Spinach\, Truffle Cream\n\nDouble Blind Tasting of a "Champagne/Franciacorta"\n\nThird Tasting*\n\nWild Mushroom Risotto\n\nDouble Blind Tasting of a "Champagne/Franciacorta"\n\n****************\n\n$88 all-inclusive for "Champagne/Franciacorta"\, tastings\, & tax per person\n\nLimited Seats available - reserve today!\n\n****************
